Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school employs a school counselor who leads dedicated SEL lessons in early years and primary classes, focusing on topics such as empathy, understanding emotions, social cues, and respectful interactions. These lessons aim to build self-awareness, resilience, and positive relationships among students.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

MYIS is an inclusive school community that welcomes children with special educational needs in consultation with third‑party specialists . It is not a specialist SEN institution, but provides learning support specialists, individualized attention in mainstream classrooms, and collaboration with external professionals when required.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

MYIS offers an Intensive English Language Support Program for students who require additional help in acquiring English proficiency. The programme costs THB 120,000 per annum, in addition to regular grade-level tuition fees. It is designed to support students in accessing the IB curriculum through targeted language instruction.

Mental Wellbeing

Mindfulness and emotional awareness are promoted through classroom practices, reflecting the school’s attention to supporting students’ mental wellbeing. Staff integrate mindfulness activities into daily routines to help children manage stress, focus attention, and understand their feelings.

Safeguarding

The school does not publicly disclose specific information regarding its safeguarding or child protection policies.

Magic Years International School (MYIS) in Pakkret, Nonthaburi, welcomes children aged 1 to 16 and follows the IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) and is pursuing IB MYP candidacy beginning with Grade 10 from August 2024, expanding through Grade 12 by 2026. On a 1.5‑acre campus just outside the Nichada Thani expat community, the school features an outdoor farm with goats, chickens, fish and turtles, where students tend plants and animals daily. A gymnasium, sports field, and salt‑water pool, alongside a Design Technology / STEM lab, Visual Arts studio, music room, library, and playgrounds, support practical and active learning. Inquiry is core to learning: even the youngest children begin to learn through inquiry, guided by a curriculum enhanced by PYP philosophy. A signature program is the farm‑based outdoor learning initiative: daily student engagement in gardening and animal care that connects classroom concepts to real‑world ecology and responsibility. Class sizes are small, with a 1:5 teacher‑student ratio across divisions.
