Regent’s trace its origins to 1992 when Dr Virachai began with 32 rental houses in Pattaya and established The Regent’s School, Pattaya in 1995. In 1999, a Bangkok campus opened near the Thailand Cultural Centre, followed by the current Rama 9 campus in 2009 to serve Early Years and Primary students. That same year, the school entered a joint venture to start Regent’s UK in Norfolk. While Dr Virachai remains a key figure, the school is now overseen by a board and led by Principal Andy Edmonds.
Regent’s hosts community and cultural events throughout the year, such as Loy Krathong celebrations and King Rama IX memorial activities where students and parents engage in merit-making, arts, and poetry projects. The House system supports cross-age collaboration and mentorship, bringing together students from different year groups to work on shared events and competitions.
The school refers to its ‘Parent Voice and Parent Network’ as an essential part of school life, where parents are encouraged to engage with teachers and pastoral staff to support student learning and development. Regular cooperation is emphasized to enrich pupils’ understanding of their environment and social growth. While specific parent-led events or committees are not detailed, this initiative appears embedded in school policies supporting parental partnership.
The Regent’s International School Bangkok (Rama 9 campus) offers a British-based education for students aged 2 to 18. The curriculum follows the English National Curriculum through Early Years and Primary, transitions to Cambridge IGCSE in Secondary, and culminates with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Sixth Form. Located in Wang Thonglang, Bangkok, the campus provides dedicated facilities for music, sports, and visual arts, including a swimming pool, football field, and performance studios. One distinctive feature is the school’s active involvement in the Round Square global network, which emphasizes service, internationalism, and student leadership through initiatives like Operation Smile, Eco Club, and TEDxYouth. Boarding is available from Year 4, and school bus services are offered upon request. English is the language of instruction, with Thai, Mandarin, Spanish, and Japanese taught as additional languages.
