RIS was founded in 1957 by the Redemptorists of Thailand to meet the educational and catechetical needs of expatriate children and local Catholic parishioners. A makeshift school opened behind Holy Redeemer Church, and in 1963 it was chartered by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and renamed Ruamrudee International School. RIS moved to the Minburi campus in 1992, and in 1998 it became an IB World School, offering both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and Advanced Placement tracks. Today RIS operates three campuses across Bangkok.
RIS maintains a diverse, multicultural community with students and staff from many backgrounds. Ruamrudee International School (RIS) is a private, Catholic international school located in Minburi, Bangkok. Founded in 1957, RIS offers education from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 welcoming students of all faiths and nationalities. The school follows a U.S.-based curriculum, offering the American high school diploma, with additional pathways through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP). The campus features facilities including modern science and computer labs, a performing arts center, two libraries, athletic fields, a swimming pool, fitness centers, maker spaces, and dedicated areas for early childhood education.
