Udon Thani International School (UDIS) was founded in 2013 by Siriphat Pukpo and Dr. Lindsay Stuart, who sought to create a local international school for their children rather than sending them away to boarding schools. The school began welcoming students in August 2014, with backing from Udon International Education Partnership Ltd investing over THB 200 million in its development. In July 2021, UDIS earned full accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS), becoming the first school in Northeast Thailand to do so
UDIS hosts a variety of community-focused events that bring together students, families, and staff. These include cultural celebrations such as Songkran, student-led conferences that invite families into the learning process, and a Community Fair—the third iteration of which marked the school’s 10-year anniversary in February 2024. The school’s regular newsletters and news updates also feature sporting matches and themed days, reflecting UDIS’s efforts to engage its international and local constituencies.
UDIS established a Parent‑Teacher Association (PTA) to encourage parental involvement and dialogue. The PTA meets several times each term to discuss school matters, offer feedback, and contribute to decision-making. PTA-organized community outings have included trips to local attractions such as the Khon Kaen Zoo. The PTA aims to foster a collaborative school community where parents and teachers are active contributors to school life.
Udon Thani International School (UDIS), founded in 2013 and welcoming its first students in August 2014, offers education for children aged 2 to 18. Located about 10 minutes north of Udon Thani city centre on Mittrapab Road 7, UDIS blends the National Curriculum of England with the International Baccalaureate PYP, MYP, and DP programmes. Class sizes are intentionally small, supporting personalised learning. Instruction is primarily in English, with Thai language taught in-school (and extra classes offered) to support both Thai and international students. The campus emphasises STEM learning, outdoor education through environmental design, and a Community Partnership Programme that embeds service and sustainability into school life.
