The Anti-bullying Policy promotes a safe culture, and safeguarding concerns are managed with a designated safeguarding lead, with appropriate involvement of staff and parents as needed.
BAT has an inclusive learning support model. The SEN policy is designed to support students with individual needs within mainstream classes, with an IB Learning Support Specialist who designs, manages and assesses systems for SEN and develops individualized education programs (IEPs). Information about students' needs is shared with teachers, and support may include shadow teachers, assistants, and targeted interventions; ARDP and GT pathways are used where appropriate.
English as an Additional Language (EAL) is provided. Applicants are assessed for English proficiency on entry, and a language profile is created to identify those needing language support. EAL support occurs during classes or after school, and an EAL department is planned (with at least two teachers) to deliver in-class language support and ensure inclusion in lessons; ongoing planning involves EAL and homeroom teachers to meet individual needs.
The school cares about academic, mental and health well-being and offers Academic support, Psychological support, and Speech Therapy to support students' well-being.
A Guidance Counselor supports safeguarding and behavior planning, and a Designated Safeguarding Lead handles safeguarding concerns. There is an Anti-bullying Policy, clear procedures for addressing bullying and safeguarding issues, and active involvement of parents and staff in safeguarding decisions.
