GEMS Al Khaleej International School traces its origins to 1992, when it first opened to serve Dubai's learning community. It was established within the GEMS network and was renamed GEMS Al Khaleej International School in August 2021 as part of relocation and rebranding. In February 2022 the school moved to a brand‑new, purpose‑built campus in Al Warqa'a 4, Dubai, marking a new chapter in its development. The school holds NEASC accreditation, with an initial candidacy in 2017 and a last visit in 2025. It is an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for the 2024‑25 academic year.

The school does not operate a separate PTA; instead, parental involvement is organized through the Parent Partnership. The program draws on research about parental engagement and promotes practical strategies like the “3‑a‑day” family involvement approach. AKIS communicatıons to families are supported by termly AKIS Newsletters detailing activities and events. Open Day events (for prospective and current families) are used to strengthen community ties. Governance input also comes from a Local Governing Body (LAB) comprising representatives from business and community organizations to support and challenge school leadership.
