Al Mawakeb was founded in 1979 as a private international school. Al Mawakeb Al Garhoud was inaugurated in 1979; Al Mawakeb Al Barsha was inaugurated in 1998; Al Mawakeb Al Khawaneej was inaugurated in 2018. The schools are managed by AMSI. AMSI and its schools have transformed the lives of students for over 35 years, with more than 7,000 graduates and over 250,000 students. LearnOnline is AMSI's robust e-learning platform, and every grade 11 and 12 student uses a notebook computer as part of the curriculum.
Al Mawakeb Family is a platform where parents, teachers and the community come together to ensure our children get the support they need. The Scouts program offers activities to help students learn new skills, gain self-confidence, make friends, and provide service to their communities. The MUN club provides opportunities to discuss and debate political happenings around the world. There is emphasis on learning outside the classroom through extra-curricular activities after school.
The school describes the Al Mawakeb Family as the platform for parent-teacher-community collaboration. Clubs and extra-curricular activities, including Scouts and MUN, involve students, parents and teachers in shared learning. Anti-Bullying and Cyber Bullying Policy and Child Protection Policy are in place as part of the student life environment. LearnOnline and the iCampus mobile app support home–school interaction. The three campuses and inaugurations in 1979, 1998 and 2018 reflect a longstanding multi-site international program. AMSI has been operating for over 35 years with more than 7,000 graduates and over 250,000 students.
