Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Pastoral Care & Wellbeing at Ambassador International Academy places SEL at the heart of school life, with emotional wellbeing supported by daily check-ins, mindfulness activities, and access to qualified counsellors; social development is fostered through teamwork, peer mentoring, leadership programmes, and cultural events; a PERMAH wellbeing framework and the UpStrive digital platform underpin wellbeing across the campus.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Inclusion, Diversity & HPL identifies support for Students of Determination and multilingual learners, with Wave 1 universal support, Wave 2 targeted interventions (IAPs or BSPs), and Wave 3 specialist supports (IEPs and external therapies); a team of inclusion professionals, including counsellors and Learning Support Assistants, works with teachers, families, and students to implement and monitor these plans.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The English Language Learning department provides tailored English language lessons across the IB continuum, supporting listening, speaking, reading and writing from KG2 through DP; in the MYP (Grades 6-10) targeted English support is offered in small groups, and CP/DP/BTEC students receive advanced English language support to meet assessment demands.

Mental Wellbeing

Counselling services offer individual and group sessions and workshops on friendship, self-regulation, and conflict resolution; UpStrive supports wellbeing with mood check-ins and coping resources; the school also promotes a positive culture with leadership opportunities, diversity celebrations, and safe spaces.

Safeguarding

A dedicated safeguarding team leads protection efforts, with formal reporting procedures, regular safeguarding training, safe recruitment checks, digital citizenship and anti-bullying policies, and KHDA-aligned practices; two designated Child Protection Leads coordinate with KHDA and relevant authorities, and the policy outlines staff roles and child-reporting channels.
