Emirates National School Ras Al Khaimah is part of the Emirates National Schools network, established by Presidential Decree and opened in 2002. The Ras Al Khaimah campus offers the American curriculum and is an IB World School delivering the full IB continuum (PYP, MYP, DP). The school aligns UAE MOE standards for Arabic, Islamic Studies and UAE Studies with the Colorado Academic Standards for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education, Computer Science and Social Studies. AP courses are available for Grades 11–12, and IB Diploma Programme courses for Grades 11–12 prepare students for external exams; the IB Diploma or IB Course Certificates may be awarded in addition to the ENS diploma. Five ENS campuses offer the IB continuum. The school promotes Global Citizenship and Community Engagement through service initiatives and UAE cultural events; ASA runs eight-week blocks for Grades 1–12. The school delivers an American curriculum and is authorized to offer International Baccalaureate (IB) World School programs, providing the full continuum of IB from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The IB Diploma Programme courses for grades 11 and 12 prepare students to take international external exams that grant advanced standing in colleges and universities, and the IB Diploma or IB Course Certificates may be awarded in addition to the ENS diploma. The ENS Scholarship Program includes two categories: 1) Academic Merit Category (Giftedness), open to students who have achieved outstanding academic success evidenced by a high GPA and high external assessments (e.g., MAP, IB) or other reliable performance data; 2) Talented Category, recognizing exceptional performance in unique skills related to science, technology, performing arts, creative arts, sports and leadership, supported by meaningful participation in co-curricular activities. Each year the program awards up to 100 scholarships, covering between 25% and 100% of annual tuition fees, with final selection approved by a designated Scholarship Committee.
The school supports social-emotional learning through formal Wellbeing practices and student-led initiatives. The campuses organize annual Activity Plans, Student Councils, and external activities, and engage students in in-school campus enhancements to promote wellbeing. The Language Policy requires English to be studied for 70% of the school day and Modern Standard Arabic for 30%, with a goal of biliteracy in English and Arabic. It emphasizes language for communication and learning and provides supports for second language learners through universal design for learning guidelines to facilitate access to the curriculum.
Wellbeing is supported through counseling and school support services, with activities designed to promote happiness and student wellbeing. Student Councils, annual activity planning, and opportunities for external activities are used to foster social, emotional, and mental wellbeing across campuses.
Emirates National Schools has a Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy with a clear commitment to protecting students at all times, including on campus, during transport, and in school activities. The policy enforces zero tolerance of maltreatment, requires staff to report suspected abuse, supports safer recruitment, provides safeguarding training, maintains safe and secure campuses, and ensures channels for the child's voice while complying with UAE laws and local authorities.
