Greenfield Community School opened in 2007 under Beacon Education (now Taaleem), initially offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The Middle Years Programme gained IB authorization in 2010 and the Diploma and Career-related Programmes followed in 2011, making GIS one of the first UAE schools to offer the IB Career-related Programme alongside BTEC courses. In August 2017 the school was renamed Greenfield International School to reflect its broader IB continuum and growing, diverse student body. KHDA rated GIS as Very Good overall for 2023–24, and the school was re-accredited by the Council of International Schools on 6 September 2023. In 2024, GIS announced expansion with a new primary building containing 18 classrooms to accommodate continued growth in enrolment.
GIS is located in Dubai Investments Park and serves a diverse student body drawn from many nationalities, reflecting its international IB continuum. The English-medium program includes Mother Tongue support for more than 50 languages, including Arabic, French, German and Mandarin. The school's extracurricular offering, the Activities Beyond the Classroom (ABC) programme, provides more than 40 clubs and societies, and Greenfield Griffins compete in interschool sports through DISA and UAESSA. Service learning is integrated into the curriculum and Week Without Walls offers off-site trips that build teamwork and real-world problem-solving.
There is an active parent community at GIS that participates in school life and events. Parents communicate with the school through the D6 Communicator app and via class WhatsApp groups to receive notices and updates. Publicly shared materials show parents attending events such as anti-bullying sessions and other family activities, and there are opportunities for parent involvement at Open Mornings and similar gatherings. Expatriate-focused coverage also notes early Open Morning events to engage prospective families. Overall, parent engagement is encouraged and supported as part of the school's community culture.
