Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

ICE Dubai was founded in 2013 by Rimah Hammoud, who serves as Vice‑President of the AFLEC (Association franco‑libanaise pour l'Éducation et la Culture). The school was established to blend French and English education within a bilingual framework and to serve an international student community in Dubai. In 2018, ICE was inaugurated at the Meydan complex in Nad Al Sheba and launched a tri‑lingual twin‑track program that combines the International Baccalaureate with the French national curriculum. In 2020, AFLEC and the Jeannine Manuel Foundation joined ICE's steering committee to implement total bilingualism and share best practices. ICE is French‑accredited, partners with AEFE, and its governance includes AFLEC representation and collaboration with Jeannine Manuel; KHDA rates the school as Very Good.

Community

ICE's student body numbers more than 530 students from around 45 nationalities. The school teaches English and French in balanced hours, situating its culture within Dubai's international context. The governance framework emphasizes four core pillars—benevolence, autonomy, collaboration and creativity—and the school offers an active after‑school program to extend learning beyond the classroom. ICE also hosts regular school events and cultural activities, such as International Day, Science Day, and a Christmas Market, reflecting an active and diverse community life.

Parent-Teacher Association

ICE does not publish a separate named Parent‑Teacher Association; instead, parent involvement is integrated through the school's governance and activity structures. The ICE Board is chaired by Yves Aubin de La Messuzière and includes several AFLEC representatives, such as Rimah Hammoud (Vice‑President of AFLEC) and other AFLEC‑affiliated members. A Pilot Committee, operating under a governance framework with the Jeannine Manuel Foundation, oversees practices and curriculum development to support bilingual leadership. The school runs an After‑School Activities (APS) program, managed by a designated coordinator (Jane Alcantara) with a semester‑based schedule; offerings include Ballet, Basketball, Gymnastics, Hip‑Hop, Martial Arts, Football, Tennis and visual arts, and registration is handled by APS staff. Newsletters (Gazette) and the school's events calendar keep families informed, and the Actualités page lists numerous ICE events such as egg hunts, International Day, and other cultural activities that involve families.
