Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

ISCS Nad Al Sheba adopts an inclusive approach that places social and emotional learning (SEL) at the heart of its practice, reinforced by Islamic ethos. The Inclusion at ISCS page states the school is committed to becoming a fully inclusive school and to removing barriers to participation so that all children can be safe, healthy, and progress in their wellbeing. Staff at all levels share responsibility for removing barriers to learning and ensuring students can participate in every part of school life. The school identifies and provides opportunities for gifted and talented students to develop their talents within the inclusive framework. The overall emphasis on inclusion and wellbeing indicates SEL is integrated into everyday school life, not treated as a separate program.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

ISCS Nad Al Sheba is described as a fully inclusive school rather than a specialist SEN institution. It uses an inclusive framework with an Inclusion Team to identify students with diverse needs and remove barriers to learning. The school recognises and provides opportunities for gifted and talented students within the inclusion framework. It has a Maharat Learning Center partnership to provide children with special educational needs the tools and strategies to access mainstream education. An admission policy for SEND students exists among the school's policies, though the public pages do not publish a detailed list of SEND categories. The information indicates a commitment to inclusion and pupils with diverse needs, including pupils of determination.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

ISCS Nad Al Sheba provides English Language Learners (ELL) support as part of its British curriculum provision. The school notes that 80% of its student body are EAL students and has established provisions to ensure these students can access the English National Curriculum, with intervention where appropriate to address barriers in learning. For students who need further support, the Inclusion Team provides information on extra packages available at the school. EAL support is integrated within the mainstream curriculum rather than delivered as a separate program. The school views bilingualism and multilingualism as a strength and embeds EAL considerations across teaching and learning.

Mental Wellbeing

Wellbeing is a central consideration in ISCS Nad Al Sheba's inclusion ethos, with the school emphasising safety, health, and the ability to enjoy life. The Inclusion statement notes the aim that students be safe, healthy, enjoy life, and grow into successful adults who contribute to society. Wellbeing and progress are explicitly linked to inclusion practices across the school. The Virtues Curriculum supports character education that underpins students' wellbeing and moral development. An inclusive culture supports emotional and social development alongside academics.

Safeguarding

ISCS Nad Al Sheba's safeguarding policy is aligned with Wadeema's Law and the UAE Ministry of Education's Child Protection Policy, and it draws on Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. The policy covers prevention and intervention measures to ensure the safety and well‑being of students, including harm prevention, e-safety, reporting processes, and rigorous recruitment procedures. For more information about safeguarding policies, details are available in the safeguarding policy, and parents may contact the head teacher for curriculum‑related safeguarding content. If there are safeguarding concerns, any member of the Senior Leadership Team will be immediately available to support. The safeguarding policy for 2025–26 is published and publicly accessible.
