Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Kent College Dubai was established through a joint venture between Mir Hashem Khoory, Meydan Estates and Kent College Canterbury. The school is directly managed by Kent College Canterbury and shares the same aims and values as its founding school. It began operating in 2016 as the first international campus of Kent College Canterbury in Nad Al Sheba. Aldar Education acquired Kent College Dubai in 2023 as part of its regional expansion. Kent College Dubai notes the Canterbury school's heritage, illustrating 135 years of history, heritage and tradition.

Community

Kent College Dubai emphasises a strong community ethos, with relationships between students, staff, and parents. The Kent family describes a vibrant, close-knit community where parents play an integral role in school life and mutual trust and collaboration are valued. The school offers rich student enrichment through competitive sports, performing arts, and a broad range of co-curricular activities, with a Student Leadership Team including Heads of School, Prefects and a Student Council. The Dubai campus is internationally diverse, with more than 105 nationalities represented in its community.

Parent-Teacher Association

Kent College Dubai has a Parent and Friend Association (PFA) that involves parents in enriching experiences for students. The PFA is described as integral to school life, with parents playing an active role alongside teachers. The PFA organizes regular coffee mornings and larger social events, and there are year-group representatives serving as points of contact for each year. The PFA also engages in school events such as open days, helping to coordinate and welcome prospective families. The Friends of Kent College (Canterbury network) provides additional context for PTA-style activities, including fundraising for school projects and an AGM each year; the group also runs a thrift shop for second-hand uniforms.
