Official Opening: Europa School UK opened on 21 September 2012 with a small primary cohort (Reception to Year 2) on a single Culham site. The founders established a multilingual, multicultural education supported by cross-cultural pedagogy and a long European Schools heritage. The secondary section opened in September 2017, and the first Baccalaureate was proclaimed on 7 July 2018 with a 100% pass rate. After the 2016 UK referendum, European School accreditation ended on 31 August 2021, while the school had already become an International Baccalaureate World School in Spring 2020 and began teaching the IB Diploma in September 2020; the first IB graduates completed in July 2022. Founding leadership included the Founding Principal (2012–2018) and the Founding Chair of the Trust.
The Europa School UK is a welcoming, multicultural community on a single site, combining UK state school status with IB World School status. Pupils follow a multilingual curriculum from age 4 to 18 and graduate with the International Baccalaureate Diploma. In Primary, half the week is taught in English and half in a second language (French, German or Spanish), and many languages are spoken at home, reflecting the school's diverse community. In Secondary, History and Geography are studied in a second language, deepening academic and cultural engagement and supporting a global perspective.
The Europa School UK PTA is active and welcomes involvement from parents and staff. It runs a broad calendar of fundraising events and other activities, including maintenance and cleaning days to support the school. All parents and staff are PTA members and a yearly AGM elects a committee to act as a link between families and the school and to provide additional resources through events. Annual events include the AGM, Halloween Cake Sale, St Martin's Day, Christmas Fair; Spring events such as Movie Night, Carnival Party and Science Week; and Summer events like International Day and the Summer Fete. Coffee mornings are held throughout the year, and volunteers are encouraged to get involved; committee@europa-pta.org. The PTA also runs Europa School branded bags and T-shirts through its shop.
Europa School UK is a UK state-funded Free School and IB World School on Culham campus for pupils aged 4 to 18. The curriculum blends Early Years Foundation Stage, British curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate through MYP and DP, with a distinctive multilingual, immersion-based approach. In Primary, every pupil spends half the week in English and half in a stream language (French, German, or Spanish), taught by bilingual staff in an immersion environment. In Secondary, History and Geography are studied in a second language. The Sixth Form offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, free for all students. The campus houses Mediathéque, Language Lab, a Sixth Form Study Centre, and a digital learning space, with an Auditorium and an Art Gallery supporting the arts. Capital developments include a Performance Studio and science-lab upgrades. A programme of after-school activities, language exchanges and Duke of Edinburgh Awards enriches academic life and intercultural understanding.
