TASIS England opened in 1976 as TASIS The American School in England, an international boarding and day school founded by Mary Crist Fleming. TASIS, The American School in Switzerland, was founded in 1956 by Mrs. M. Crist Fleming, making TASIS England part of the longer-running TASIS family. The TASIS crest embodies four symbols—tower for culture, lamp for wisdom, sun for truth, and book for knowledge—reflecting the founders' educational principles. TASIS England educates over 600 students who come from more than 60 countries.
Outside of the classroom, student life includes a wide range of after-school and weekend activities on campus and off. For boarding students, weekend trips and activities extend beyond the school with proximity to London providing access to theatre, concerts, sports events, and shopping. The active TASIS England Parent Association (TPA) connects the school community through social events throughout the year, including a Back-to-School Welcome Picnic, Trunk or Treat, a Spring Fundraiser, the International Festival, and Mayfair. The Parents' Information and Resource Committee (PIRC) offers settling-in support and informational seminars and smaller social events for transitioning families.
TPA is a group of volunteer parents promoting close relationships within the school community and facilitating communication between the parents, students, faculty, staff, and administration. It connects the community through the Buddy Family Program, TASIS Appreciation Week, the International Festival, and various other social events, and communicates via the Parents' Facebook page, weekly newsletters, monthly executive board meetings, and grade-level WhatsApp groups. It enhances the school environment through fundraising activities such as TASIS England SpiritWear and the TPA Gala, with funds supporting the TASIS England Financial Aid Fund. PIRC, a sub-committee of the TPA, offers settling-in seminars and topical information sessions. The TPA organizes events including the TASIS Welcome Picnic, Trunk or Treat, TASIS Appreciation Week and Luncheon, Holiday Decorating, the Spring Fundraiser, International Festival, and Mayfair. Key programs include Boarding Program, Buddy Family Program, International Group, Arts Parents, Sports Parents, TASIS Spirit Wear Store, and Used Uniform Sales.
