The school sits on a well-maintained three-hectare campus in Carrasco, eastern Montevideo, with 7,100 square meters of building space for Nursery through Secondary School. It includes an elementary wing and a secondary wing, a large library, computer labs, a Design Lab, four modern science labs, two gymnasiums, a fitness center, outdoor sports fields, an auditorium, and a cafeteria. Classrooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and receive ample natural light and are equipped with interactive whiteboards. In 2016, two large flexible learning spaces were added to the Secondary School, creating adaptable learning environments. The campus also features a regulation soccer field, a hard court, and three playground areas; the Early Childhood playground is directly accessible from classrooms and is fenced. Cafeteria offers nutritious daily meals; students may also bring lunch, and meals are billed weekly; dietary restrictions can often be accommodated.

Two large gymnasiums provide space for indoor sports, with one opened in 2021; the gym includes a multipurpose court for basketball, volleyball, and soccer, plus a fully equipped weight room and locker rooms. Swimming is offered for Elementary and Middle School teams at the Carrasco Polo Club pool. UAS participates in interscholastic competition and SAAC events with other international schools in the region.
There are four large, modern, purpose-built science laboratories connected by storage and preparation rooms; the labs are equipped with gas lines, fume hoods, sinks, and dedicated lecture and lab areas. A Design Lab supports hands-on, project-based learning. The Media Center houses separate English and Spanish book collections for Elementary and Secondary students, with more than 19,000 books and reading areas, plus access to Apple and PC computers. The Computer Lab contains 36 PC computers with up-to-date software, a laser printer, and a 3D printer, and there are PC and Mac laptop carts and an iPad cart. The auditorium is 225 square meters and seats up to 300 with a stage, lights, and a sound system. Classrooms are spacious, air-conditioned, and feature natural light and interactive whiteboards.
After School Activities are offered for Early Childhood through High School, featuring a range of options by grade. Examples include Gross Motor Skills, Plastic Arts, Yoga, and Swimming for younger students, with additional activities such as Soccer, Baseball, Karate, Chess, Ballet, WeCode, Robotics (beginner and advanced), French, German, Dance, Pastry, Workshop, Cub Scouts, and Horseback Riding for older students. Schedules and activity grids are provided for each level, and some activities run on weekends as part of ASA.
Uruguayan American School (UAS) is a private, college-preparatory day school in Montevideo, founded in 1958 to promote intercultural understanding through a U.S.-style education in Uruguay. The curriculum blends the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards with the U.S. Common Core, delivered in English in Early Childhood and Elementary, while Spanish Language and Social Studies follow the Uruguayan ANEP-DGEIP framework. An optional Uruguayan Program (UP) through Grade 6 provides an integrated, inquiry-based track in Spanish that yields both U.S. and Uruguayan diplomas and Mercosur transcript recognition. In Secondary, Grades 9–10 use a U.S. curriculum, and Grades 11–12 offer the International Baccalaureate, with three diplomas available: U.S. High School Diploma, Uruguayan Diploma, and IB Diploma. UAS is NEASC-accredited in the United States and ANEP-accredited in Uruguay, and the IB Diploma Program is offered.
