Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Admissions

1. Submit completed application form with copies of the student's previous report cards and any other requested information. The submission initiates the admissions process and is considered for feasibility. 2. If the application is considered feasible, the family will be invited for an interview with the Head of Section and other pertinent members of the team. The interview assesses the fit with ISHR's programs and culture. 3. Where applicable, the student will be invited to school to complete the placement tests. In overseas cases, placement tests will be sent to the student's present school for completion. 4. If the application is successful, parents will receive a letter of confirmation, a school contract, and an invoice for the admission fee. 5. A place only becomes guaranteed after the admission fee has been paid and the school contract has been signed and sent back. 6. Placement: Students will be placed in their age appropriate class with the orientation cut-off date for placement being September 30th. In very rare cases where a placement test or the probation period reveals that a student would be better placed in another grade level to best serve their emotional or academical welfare then ISHR reserves the right to make a more appropriate placement in an adjacent grade level. Admissions

1. Get in touch with ISU's Admissions Team by email or phone. Tell us about your child, your preferred start date and any specific needs. The Admissions Team will answer your initial questions and guide you through the next steps.

2. Visit ISU. Join us for a school tour to see our campus and classrooms in action. During the visit we will explain our programmes, daily routines, and answer any questions. Families who are not yet in Ulm/Neu-Ulm are welcome to arrange an online meeting instead.

3. Student try-out day. Your child is invited for a try-out day with the appropriate class. The day helps us understand their needs and allows them to experience ISU life. The format can vary by age, from a shorter play visit in Early Years to a full or half day for Primary and Secondary students.

4. Online application. Complete the online application form and upload the required documents, such as school reports, passport or birth certificate and medical information. Start the application process!

5. Admissions decision. Our Admissions Team and School Leadership Team review the application, try-out day feedback and available support we can offer. We then inform you whether we can offer your child a place or, in some cases, have to decline the application.

6. School contract. To secure the place for your child, you sign the school contract and confirm the start date. After we have received completed contract, you will receive further information for your child's first day.

Required documents (for all applicants): birth certificate or passport, proof of measles vaccination, last 3 school/kindergarten reports, and any learning support documentation if relevant. If applicable, include custody/court orders, additional medical information, and other documents requested by the Admissions Team. Scholarships

ISU offers a Financial Aid Programme providing eligible applicants with societally reasonable tuition fees. Natural persons who are self-payers can apply for a reduction of tuition fees if the family's means prevent full payment. Scholarships

Scholarship applications: The first scholarship campaign for the 2026/2027 year is open. Applications must be submitted or sent to the Consulate General of France in Munich, Service des affaires sociales (not by email), no later than Friday, 24 February 2026. The AEFE can provide scholarships to French children living abroad to cover all or part of tuition, under certain conditions. Scholarships are offered by a Consular Council for School Scholarships (CCB) established at each post and awarded after the advice of a National Commission (CN) on decision of the Agency. Scholarships are awarded based on resources; if the declared situation is in doubt, a social inquiry may be carried out or additional supporting documents requested. The amount is not paid directly to the student; AEFE pays the school directly, which deducts it from tuition. A scholarship covers tuition and registration fees and may cover related costs such as school transport and books, but does not cover extracurricular activities. New families should apply before enrollment is confirmed for their child; the scholarship application must be renewed every year and filed within regulatory deadlines. The presence of scholarship students is checked at the start of the school year. A new feature this year is the possibility to submit online via SCOLAIDE, though paper applications at the Consulate General of France in Munich remain possible. Eligibility: candidate must be French, registered with the Consulate in the Foreigners' Registry, reside in the consular district, be enrolled at Lycée Jean Renoir at any level (kindergarten, elementary, middle or high school), and be at least 3 years old by December 31 of the current school year. Admissions

1. Submit online application via the online application portal. The enrolment period for the new school year begins on August 1 of the preceding year. If places are available, admission during the current school year is possible for students with the necessary linguistic and academic aptitude. The school is a state-recognised private school from Year 1 to Year 10.

2. After the online application, the school reviews the complete documents and conducts a pre-selection. Because applications exceed places, not all applicants are invited to an interview. If the child meets the admission criteria, the child is invited to a get-to-know-you appointment, several trial days or a trial week, depending on the grade; a meeting with the parents also takes place. A decision on admission is made afterwards.

3. For the start of the 2026/27 school year, 50 places are offered in two Grade 1 classes. The preliminary selection from all submitted applications takes place after the Open Day. All applications received by October 17, 2025 are considered; applications submitted after this date can only be placed on the waiting list.

4. Introductory meetings are held in November 2025, and the allocation of school places occurs shortly afterwards. If a place is offered, the school will contact you by email or phone. If offered, you will receive contract documents by email and must schedule an appointment with the school office to sign the enrollment contract. The process is designed to allow the school and families to get to know each other.

5. Admission to Year 7 is limited to high-achieving students with a Gymnasium recommendation; final decisions are communicated by June 2026. Admission to Year 11–13 is possible only if all official requirements of the Berlin school authority are met. The decisions follow the current Berlin School Act and related regulations.

6. For applications in all current grades and available school places, the school will contact you as quickly as possible to determine whether your child can be invited to trial days. If a place is not available, your child will be placed on the waiting list. This process continues until a decision is reached.

7. For future first graders, an introductory visit is organised in autumn prior to the start. Your child spends a morning at our school with a small group of around 11 children, together with teachers and educators. The activities focus on physical and cognitive development, social interaction, and language development.

8. For students wishing to transfer into an already existing class, several trial days or a full trial week are offered. There are short written assessments in German, Mathematics, and English, followed by a personal interview and participation in lessons; feedback is gathered from teaching staff at the end of the trial.
