Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school provides school psychological counseling for pupils, parents and teachers to support social and emotional issues such as exam anxiety, problems in class, overload, bullying, and individual crises. After an initial consultation, solutions are developed and support is provided to implement the recommended measures, including coordination with external experts.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

International School Innsbruck provides further support classes for international students.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

In the classes of the International School, English is integrated into various subjects. This occurs through interaction with native English-speaking staff who are present year-round and international students enrolled in the Gymnasium.

Mental Wellbeing

School psychological counseling supports mental wellbeing and addresses social and emotional issues, exam anxiety and crises. The service is available to pupils, parents and teachers, with initial consultation and follow-up support; further expertise can be coordinated as needed.

Safeguarding

ISI has a Complaints & Communications Policy that ensures concerns are addressed transparently, confidentially and promptly. It sets out first points of contact for questions or complaints and provides an Ombudsperson for Schools with online contact, a toll-free hotline, and email. It also includes data protection and confidentiality provisions.

International School Innsbruck is an IB World School integrated within Akademisches Gymnasium Innsbruck in Austria, serving students aged 10 to 18. The school delivers bilingual teaching in English and German and pursues two parallel curricula: the Austrian National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in two years, with English as a parallel instructional language and certain subjects taught bilingually by native English-speaking staff. Two learning streams guide studies, with language tracks that include English, Latin, French, Ancient Greek, Spanish and Italian, depending on the stream and year. The campus features a modern building with advanced classrooms and dedicated sports halls, and management continually upgrades facilities. A strong focus on internationalism is supported by activities in visual arts, music and drama, including an IB Visual Arts Diploma Exhibition and exchanges. Additional options include a CAS project fundraising for Concordia, after-school care, and opportunities for student mobility across languages and cultures.
