Founded in 1959 as American Cooperative School, ISC opened with approximately 15 students. Ten years later it became Associação da Escola Internacional de Curitiba, known today as the International School of Curitiba. It is described as an internationally-minded community of students, teachers, parents, staff, and alumni engaged in continuous learning. Today it operates as the International School of Curitiba.
ISC is a multicultural community with teachers and staff from diverse backgrounds and an international perspective in learning. The ISC Report is published annually to share highlights, learning results, and campus improvements while celebrating the community. Window Magazine is the official printed publication used to communicate with the ISC community about learning and related content. The school hosts events coordinated by the PTO, including International Fair, Halloween, Book Fairs, Festa Junina, and Craft Fair.
The PTO is the automatically integrated body when you become part of the ISC community; its elected council includes a president, a vice-president, a treasurer, and a secretary, alongside division and grade representatives. PTO operates as an umbrella organization overseeing four Action Groups to ensure parent engagement in certain areas of the school. International Culture & Events plans school-wide events such as the International Fair, Halloween Celebration, Book Fairs, Festa Junina, and Craft Fair. Buddy Families supports new families through the Buddy Program. Uniforms leads monthly second-hand uniform sales and develops new Wildcat uniforms; Wildcat Booster Club supports student-athletes in local games and school events; Yearbook Club creates the annual memory book. PTO also hosts schoolwide events, workshops, learning activities and professional development conferences.
