Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Since its founding in 1946, the American School of Paris has provided a world-class education to the international community in Paris. It is an independent international school offering an American curriculum to students aged 3–18 from more than 64 countries, located at 41 Rue Pasteur, Saint-Cloud. An interactive timeline highlights the school's history and its evolution into the ASP of today. ASP presents itself as an independent international school serving a diverse student body near Paris.

Community

ASP emphasizes a welcoming, diverse, and caring community where new families are welcomed and onboarding is thorough. New students and families arrive throughout the year, and the school offers a wide range of student activities, a focus on well-being and inclusion, and extensive parent activities and social events. The ASP community also maintains a global alumni network with more than 18,000 alumni worldwide.

Parent-Teacher Association

The school has a Parent–Faculty Association (PFA) made up of parents from across the school. The PFA volunteers with grade levels, hosts events for parents on and off campus, supports student spirit activities, and bridges families with faculty and staff to build an international Paris community. Its mission is to build community, foster a welcoming atmosphere, celebrate ASP's international diversity, and connect families with the school. Neighborhood, country, and language groups are led by volunteer liaisons who organize meetings and welcome new members; two parent coffees are offered per grade level each year with topic-focused sessions. The Senior Parents Group coordinates announcements, senior photos, the prom, awards luncheon, graduation dinner, and the senior directory. The PFA also offers a range of parent activities and community service opportunities, including a refugee food distribution program with Utopia 56.
