Let the school know you're thinking of applying — they can share their prerequisites and help you through the process.
It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
The school welcomes children of all levels of bilingualism, subject to availability of places. The admission process consists of three steps: 1 – Apply Online; 2 – Interview; 3 – Notification. After receiving the completed pre-registration file, the school promptly contacts families to schedule an interview at the school. Both parents and the child must attend the interview, and for non-residents the interview may be conducted via video conference. Admissions open in October for the following September intake, and remain open throughout the year for bilingual pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and primary classes. Places may become available throughout the year as expatriate families relocate overseas. Priority is given to siblings of current students, as well as children and grandchildren of alumni. If coming from abroad, check the Class Equivalence Table. The school has two campuses in Paris: Rue du Rocher and Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The International Class Equivalence Table provides mappings between cycles and birth years to English, American, and French equivalents for the school year 2023-2024, including the following examples: Maternelle 2021 corresponds to Nursery (English) / Très Petite Section (French); 2020 corresponds to Nursery (English) / Petite Section (French); 2019 corresponds to Reception (English) / Pre-K (American) / Moyenne Section (French); 2018 corresponds to Year 1 (English) / Kindergarten (American) / Grande Section (French); 2017 corresponds to Year 2 / 1st Grade / Cours Préparatoire; 2016 corresponds to Year 3 / 2nd Grade / Cours Elémentaire; 2015 corresponds to Year 4 / 3rd Grade / Cours Elémentaire; 2014 corresponds to Year 5 / 4th Grade / Cours Moyen; 2013 corresponds to Year 6 / 5th Grade / Cours Moyen.
Le Petit Cours du Rocher is a private bilingual school in Paris serving children from age 2 to 11. Founded in 1953, it operates two campuses in Paris and offers a bilingual immersion program with 50% instruction in French and 50% in English, taught by native language specialists. The curriculum blends the aims of the French Education Nationale with the British Curriculum, and mathematics follows the Singapore Math Method from preschool through CM2, with concepts introduced in the morning and revisited in other language. English is taught by a native speaker while other subjects are delivered in both languages. The school emphasizes well-being and small class sizes—typically about 20 students per level—supported by staff trained in Positive Discipline. On-site FabLab supports STEM learning, including Engineering for Kids, and coding begins in Year 1. Hours are 8:30 am to 5:45 pm, with a family-like atmosphere and festive celebrations for families alike.
