Le Petit Cours du Rocher was founded in 1953 by Françoise Thézard as a bilingual nursery in the heart of Paris' 8th arrondissement. It offers a bilingual immersion curriculum with 50% French and 50% English taught by native teachers. Small class sizes have been kept to 20 students per class since 1953 to foster personalized attention and well-being. In 2002, Clémence Caux became director and introduced Positive Discipline and a strengthened immersive bilingual program. In 2019, Stéphane Lebrati became president and the Faubourg Saint-Honoré primary cycle opened at 230 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, with the school becoming the first in France to integrate a FabLab for kindergarten–primary STEM education.
The school is independent, secular, and intimate, offering bilingual immersion (50/50) and a curriculum that blends the French Education Nationale with the British Curriculum. Class sizes are limited to 20 students per class, enabling personalized attention and a strong emphasis on well-being from both students and teachers. The teaching staff is experienced, caring, and international, and a Fab Lab provides unique STEM activities for aspiring engineers aged four and up. The community welcomes families from 26 different nationalities, creating a vibrant, multicultural environment.
Le Petit Cours du Rocher is a private bilingual school in Paris serving children from age 2 to 11. Founded in 1953, it operates two campuses in Paris and offers a bilingual immersion program with 50% instruction in French and 50% in English, taught by native language specialists. The curriculum blends the aims of the French Education Nationale with the British Curriculum, and mathematics follows the Singapore Math Method from preschool through CM2, with concepts introduced in the morning and revisited in other language. English is taught by a native speaker while other subjects are delivered in both languages. The school emphasizes well-being and small class sizes—typically about 20 students per level—supported by staff trained in Positive Discipline. On-site FabLab supports STEM learning, including Engineering for Kids, and coding begins in Year 1. Hours are 8:30 am to 5:45 pm, with a family-like atmosphere and festive celebrations for families alike.
