The Montessori kindergarten program is designed to prepare our 5-year-old children for a dynamic and collaborative learning experience based on inquiry and research. The teachers, who are all native speakers of the target language, are strategic facilitators who collaborate with our young students and empower them to ask questions, solve problems, act and think. Being an active participant in their schooling enables them to become active learners. The bilingual immersion program maintains and develops native English or French language skills while acquiring communication and literacy in a second language. The IB program highlights learner qualities, which gives them confidence. They continue to use Montessori materials, but devote more time to teacher-led group activities, develop inquiry with peers, and practice sharing and listening in more sophisticated contexts.
The school offers rich after-school programs for the Ferney-Voltaire community from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as well as all-day Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All enrichment programs are open to students from public and private schools and to families in the region. We offer academic support and homework help on request. Arts are an integral part of the learning experience, and teachers ensure that arts and performances are integrated into each inquiry unit from kindergarten through the curriculum via interdisciplinary planning. The arts enrich our lives and are essential to understanding world cultures and the themes that unite societies. We recognize that the arts are a means of inquiry, offering opportunities for learning, communication and expression, and learning about and through the arts supports creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and social interactions.
Les Petits Polyglottes in Ferney-Voltaire is a private international school offering the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for ages 3 to 12. The curriculum is delivered through a bilingual immersion in English and French, with two teachers working in each language in small mixed groups, ensuring balanced language development. From age five, a third language—German, Arabic, or Spanish—may be studied for one hour weekly, expanding students' linguistic horizons. The school aligns assessments with IB requirements and French national standards.
