The school opened on September 1, 1999. It results from the merger of the local German elementary school in the Sillenbuch district and the French school in Stuttgart. It is organized around two sections: the German section with 14 classes and the French section with eight bilingual classes. The French bilingual section follows an adapted French program to teach German in a bilingual setting, with one-third to half of lessons conducted in German under the Baden-Württemberg program. The German section follows the Baden-Württemberg program, and foreign languages taught there are English or French. The campus includes a new building with a cafeteria, side buildings, the main entrance at the old building, and a bicycle yard.
The school has two sections: the German section (14 classes) and the French bilingual section (8 classes). The German section follows the Baden-Württemberg program, and foreign languages taught in this section are English or French. The French bilingual section uses a French curriculum with adapted German instruction within a bilingual framework; one-third to half of lessons are conducted in German under Baden‑Württemberg guidelines. The school combines French and German curricular approaches to support bilingual education.
Morning care provides a supervised breakfast and allows children to play, read, and draw. A packed breakfast is eaten, under staff supervision. Midday care is for students who have classes only in the morning and end at 2 pm; children enroll in the various offerings and rooms, can do homework, play in the courtyard, do crafts and drawing, read, and relax; a hot meal can be taken at the canteen if registered with the meal provider Sander. Afternoon care runs Monday to Friday from the end of the school day until 5 pm; children are encouraged to choose activities freely and are supervised by the team.
Ecole Franco-Allemande Stuttgart-Sillenbuch is a bilingual French-German primary school in Stuttgart, uniting two curricula on one campus. The German section follows the Baden-Württemberg program; from first grade pupils may choose English or French as a foreign language, and the Modellschule option allows extra French instruction beyond standard requirements. The French section is part of the AEFE network and combines the French National Education program with the Baden-Württemberg framework. The school aims to prepare pupils for a path leading to the ABI-BAC, with mastery of both languages and both systems. It is Stuttgart's largest elementary school, with 14 German classes and 8 French classes. Opened in 1999 after a merger between a German and a French school, the campus features a new building with a cafeteria, side buildings and a bicycle yard. A supervised morning, midday and after-school program supports families and offers topic-based activities, arts, sport and language clubs.
