ISS offers three IB Programmes: Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Early Years through Grade 5, Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 6–10, and Diploma Programme (DP) for Grades 11–12. These programmes emphasize rigorous academic standards, student-centered learning, and global perspectives within a supportive, multicultural community. The Diploma Programme challenges students to excel academically and equips them for university study worldwide, with dedicated university counseling and guidance. The school operates across the Degerloch and Sindelfingen campuses to provide continuity and progression for learners aged 3–19.
Performing Arts are central at ISS. The Degerloch Campus offers music ensembles, choirs, recorder, Orffestra, junior and senior bands, and a whole-school orchestra, with regular performances in assemblies and community events. The program includes private instrumental lessons with a team of qualified teachers and offers plays and musicals in a professional-grade theatre, fostering creativity, confidence, and collaboration. From Early Years through the Diploma Programme, students have opportunities to build artistic skills and share performances with authentic audiences.
ISS values linguistic diversity and supports students in developing English proficiency while maintaining their home languages. English as an Additional Language (EAL) is provided at various proficiency levels, and Home and Family Language Programs nurture students' native languages. Language support is integrated across the IB programmes to foster global communication and cross-cultural collaboration.
Beyond the classroom, ASAP (After School Activities Program) offers a wide range of activities from drama to robotics at both campuses. ASAP consists of ASAP Explorers (structured after-school childcare for Grades 1–5) and ASAP Activities (specialized options), with schedules and catalogs managed through the school's portal. Families can blend enrichment with care by booking multiple blocks per afternoon, creating a customized after-school experience.
ISS actively engages students in community service and leadership through ongoing student-led service projects. Leadership opportunities are supported by Erasmus+ and the Duke of Edinburgh International Award programs, and the school maintains an Alumni network with “Giving Back” initiatives to connect students with the wider community. These elements reflect ISS's emphasis on developing responsible global citizens.
University and Career Guidance provides personalized support for post-secondary planning, led by a dedicated College and Career Counselor. The program includes guidance through university applications, career exploration, and assessment support to prepare students for life beyond ISS. Students receive tailored resources to help them navigate their next steps with confidence.
Pastoral care ensures students feel connected and valued, with homeroom teachers, advisory groups, and a Peer Mentoring Program. Counseling Services are available at both campuses to support academic, social, and personal development, including transitions between grades, campuses, or countries. Learning support and English language support foster wellbeing and curriculum access, and ISS also promotes wellness through sports coordinated via GISST, with seasonal seasons, training, and inter-school competitions.
Founded in 1985, the International School of Stuttgart (ISS) Degerloch campus serves students from age 3 to 18 through the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. The campus recently expanded with a new facility in August 2024 that centers on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), featuring dedicated makerspaces and scientific laboratories. In the Early Years "Nest," children follow an inquiry-based model influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach, utilizing dedicated outdoor learning areas and gardens. ISS emphasizes service learning, notably through its student-led KIVA micro-financing program which supports global entrepreneurs. The school provides a bus service for the regional community and offers language instruction in German, French, and Spanish. Classes are historically capped at 16 students to ensure individual attention. Located in a green suburb 15 minutes from the city center, the school balances local cultural integration with an English-language curriculum recognized by German educational authorities.
