How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. Provide the following documents to confirm enrollment: copies of school records for the last two years; a birth certificate; copies of ID (KTP & KK) or passport (cover page, photo page, expiration date, and current visa page) for both student and parents; for international students, copies of KITAS (photo page and expiration date) for both student and parents.
2. Complete the online application: fill our simple application form to officially begin the journey with Sampoerna Academy. This step helps us understand the child's needs and aspirations, ensuring a personalized education experience.
3. Welcome to Sampoerna Academy: after the application is reviewed and approved, a warm welcome is extended to the child and family, and the enriching educational journey begins.
4. Downloads: Parent & Student Handbook provides information on policies, procedures, and important dates; Sampoerna Academy Brochure explains our educational philosophy, curriculum, and facilities.
5. Admission overview and process: a rigorous academic selection process is used, with each child undergoing an observation and assessment period (for Early Years) or taking an entrance examination. The entrance examination includes assessments in English, Mathematics, and Science, plus a personal interview. The school may request students to attend class for one or more days to monitor behavior and academic level.
6. Class placement: the school accepts children from age 2 for Playgroup up to age 15 for Grade 10. For other grades and ages, additional consideration and communication between school and parents are required. Children are taught in age-appropriate groups. Age cutoffs include: Playgroup at 2, Pre-K at 3, Kindergarten 1 at 4, Kindergarten 2 at 5, Grade 1 at 6, Grade 7 at 12, Grade 10 at 15. Students must reach the required age before October 1 of the applicable year. Students must have a graduation letter from the previous school year and the results of the final examination where applicable. Students from English-based education systems will be placed according to conversion into our system.
7. Curriculum and language: English is the medium of instruction; Mandarin is offered in collaboration with Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Cambridge is used for Primary and Secondary, IEYC is used for Early Learning, and IB options are available for Grades 11 and 12. The school has seven campuses located in Medan, Jakarta, BSD, Sentul, and Surabaya.
8. Fees: Tuition ranges from IDR 25 million for Early Learning to IDR 187 million for Grade 12 per year, with prices varying by location and level. Tuition does not include a one-time registration fee, books and learning resources, uniforms, field trips, Chromebooks and laptops, external exams, ESL, courses, and other services.

Sampoerna Academy Medan is a private day school in Indonesia serving students from age 2 to 15 with a cohesive, internationally oriented curriculum.
