Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Sekolah Bogor Raya embeds social-emotional learning across all divisions, cultivating school values in every area of the student journey. Values are reinforced through department-specific programs and through positive behaviour modelling by peers, older students, and staff. Character-building activities are integrated into the secondary program to foster acceptance, self-respect, responsibility, and empathy. Each department has a counsellor who works with classroom teachers and pedagogical leaders to support students with learning difficulties, contributing to a supportive emotional environment. The school aims to create a safe, nurturing space where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

SBR differentiates classroom learning to accommodate students with diverse needs. Every department has a counsellor who collaborates with teachers and pedagogical leaders to support students with learning difficulties. The school supports inclusion through Best Buddies Indonesia, promoting friendship and participation for students with special needs. Differentiation and counselling across divisions help tailor support for individual learners as part of the IB and Cambridge curricula. The school's inclusive practices are evidenced by ongoing collaboration with organizations and internal supports to assist diverse learners.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Languages of instruction are English and Bahasa Indonesia, and both are considered of equal importance in the curriculum. English is used in the instruction of most subjects, while Bahasa Indonesia remains the language students are most exposed to outside school; the school advocates bilingual fluency. The school aims for a fully English-language environment, with students encouraged to speak English in school and teachers modelling English use. Expatriate teachers support language development and collaborate with local teachers to address language needs. Mandarin is being introduced gradually as part of the curriculum and Mandarin Center operates as an extracurricular option; French is studied from Grade 10.

Mental Wellbeing

Sekolah Bogor Raya prioritises student mental well-being by providing a safe and nurturing environment. A comprehensive Child Safeguarding Policy protects students from harm and supports social-emotional development; staff are trained to recognise signs of distress and act to protect students. All staff are mandated to report concerns, with clear procedures for reporting and response, including collaboration with authorities when needed. The school environment emphasises the holistic development of every child and aims for students to feel valued and protected. Individual department counsellors support daily wellbeing and provide accessible guidance.

Safeguarding

The school maintains a comprehensive Child Safeguarding Policy to protect students from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The policy aligns with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and Indonesian laws, with staff trained to recognise signs of abuse and neglect. There are established reporting and response procedures, and authorities may be involved when necessary to safeguard students. The environment is designed to be safe and supportive, with a focus on the welfare and rights of every pupil.
