Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Sekolah Pilar Indonesia is an inquiry-based school serving Early Childhood Centre (Toddler – Reception), Primary (Grades 1–6), Junior High (Grades 7–9) and Senior High (Grades 10–12). Since 2005, it has provided an international standard education. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB-PYP) has been authorised since 2011. The school's vision underpins an international perspective with Indonesian cultural values. In 2024, Sekolah Pilar Indonesia formed a partnership with Ritsumeikan Keisho High School in Hokkaido, Japan, signing a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen intercultural understanding and establish a sister-school relationship.

Community

The school community includes events and intercultural exchanges that reinforce international mindedness. A key event, the Rock and Learn Family Festival: Harmony in Motion, was held on December 22, 2025, uniting students from Kindergarten to High School with teachers, staff and parents. International partnerships and student exchanges are active, including collaborations with Ritsumeikan Keisho High School in Japan (MoU signed in 2024) and a 2025 exchange with Le Fevre High School in Adelaide, Australia. Alumni also describe cultural learning experiences such as keroncong festivals and other school performances that involve families and the wider community.

Parent-Teacher Association

Parents participate in school life through events such as Parent Presentations and engagement with the Pilar Student Council. The school uses Three-Way Conferences and Student-Led Conferences to review learning progress with involvement from students, teachers and parents. Alumni note that Parent Presentations and family involvement were valued parts of their educational experience, and programs like live-in experiences and Bela Negara Camp further connect families to school activities.
