The school delivers the International Baccalaureate continuum (PYP, MYP, DP) for K–12 students. The PYP runs from preschool through sixth grade in a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based framework with six themes. Instruction is bilingual—50% Spanish and 50% English in the early years, with balanced bilingual delivery in the middle years. In the Diploma Program, implemented since 2016, students choose six subject groups and complete core components—Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essays, and CAS.
Arts are integrated at all levels, with Visual Arts, Music, and Technology available in the PYP/MYP. In elementary, Dance is offered in lower elementary and Theater in upper elementary, alongside Art classes. In the Diploma Program, The Arts is a subject group with options in Film or Visual Arts.
Classes are conducted bilingually, with 50% instruction in Spanish and 50% in English in the PYP. In the Diploma Program, a multilingual approach offers courses in English and Spanish to meet program requirements. Students can choose English or Spanish for Group 1 Language and Literature and Group 2 Language Acquisition.
After-school activities include Academic Academies in Art, English, and Spanish, with optional programs from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Afternoon athletics include soccer, basketball, and volleyball, with golf opportunities at the Los Cabos Country Club. The program also includes sports teams and other extracurriculars as part of student life.
In the Diploma Program, CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) enables students to lead initiatives such as supporting animal rescue and welfare organizations, literacy projects in local schools, recycling and permaculture initiatives, and dialogues on equal rights. The MYP emphasizes service learning, including a final community project in grade 9. Students engage in service and community actions as part of the IB framework.
A mentor teacher supports each student, and advisors assist each Diploma component. A pedagogical leadership team seeks student and parent input in critical decisions, including university planning. Psychology and language development support staff are available to help students develop academically and personally.
Wellbeing is integrated through a dedicated Wellbeing course, language and psychology support, and access to a school clinic and counseling services. Students benefit from ongoing mentoring and language development support, with a focus on personal growth and self-management. The school emphasizes a caring, inclusive community with student-led conferences and wellbeing resources.
Colégio El Camino is a private, coeducational day school in Mexico offering the International Baccalaureate continuum (PYP, MYP, DP) along with a bespoke curriculum. The school serves preschool through high school and culminates in the Diploma Programme. The PYP is bilingual, with 50% instruction in Spanish and 50% in English, using six transdisciplinary units of inquiry and integrated specialists in Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, and Technology. The MYP, authorized in March 2023 for grades 7–9, emphasizes inquiry-based learning, interdisciplinary study and Approaches to Learning, with courses offered in both languages. The DP, implemented since 2016, offers six subject groups with Standard or Higher Level courses and core components—Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essays, and CAS—alongside university guidance for Mexico and abroad. Facilities include classrooms, a library, high-speed internet, interactive whiteboards, an indoor shaded soccer field, a shaded outdoor court, and two playgrounds; a future Art and Athletic Center is planned.
