Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school prioritizes social and emotional learning as part of its IB-based model. It promotes wellbeing across the Terranova community by addressing health—physical and emotional—alongside culture, family and society. The IB learner profile attributes guide students to be inquisitive, empathetic, balanced and open-minded, practices that are applied inside and outside the classroom. Psychology specialists accompany students through adolescence to support emotional and social development. The Terranova community engages families and fosters resilience and social responsibility through wellbeing-focused programming and communications.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school uses psychopedagogical assessments to identify students' needs. Psychopedagogical Cards collect data on learning, emotional, social, and other difficulties. They record growth and development history and medical background to tailor support. Psychology specialists accompany students through adolescence to support wellbeing. These tools and staff reflect a structured approach to recognizing and addressing SEN needs.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

All subjects are taught in Spanish as the primary language of instruction. All students take English as an additional language. In middle school, students may study a third language. In secundaria, English is consolidated and a third language such as French or German begins.

Mental Wellbeing

Wellbeing is addressed across the Terranova community, with a focus on physical and emotional health, culture, family and society. The IB profile attributes emphasize resilience, empathy, balance and openness, guiding behavior inside and outside class. Psychology specialists accompany students through adolescence to support mental health and social-emotional development. The TerraBlog highlights ongoing programs and conversations about wellness, including campaigns and talks on wellbeing. Content sections such as TerraSalud and TerraMente are dedicated to health, mental fitness and wellbeing.

Safeguarding

Bullying is addressed from multiple fronts: prevention programs, accompaniment by psychologists, protocols of action and awareness spaces for the community. The school publishes a privacy notice in compliance with the Mexican Personal Data Law to protect student data, including health and psychological information, and sets out ARCO rights and security measures. Video surveillance is used for safety purposes where appropriate.
