Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Our educational model recognizes the uniqueness of every student and supports personal and social development in a stimulating environment. It unifies tutoring, values, and Williams profile attributes to strengthen wellbeing and guide growth. The approach is grounded in inclusive education principles, fostering a supportive and respectful community where students are happy during their time at the Colegio. Inclusion means identifying and reducing barriers to learning and participation from Preschool through Preparatory, with 100% personalized teaching and ongoing progress monitoring. We encourage reflection and exploring multiple paths to solving problems, while developing affective skills, empathy, teamwork, and positive social interactions. Mindfulness and attention to the present are integrated to support focus and wellbeing.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Education is 100% personalized from Preschool through Preparatory. The Learning Support Department works with teachers to identify strengths and barriers to learning using psychometric tests and parent interviews. The process includes observations, conversations with students, and reporting to parents to identify progress and make recommendations. Inclusion is implemented based on each learner's needs, with levels of support ranging from specialist shadowing to targeted interventions. All students learn in the same classroom, with specialists providing assistance as needed to remove barriers.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English and French are taught at Colegio Williams de Cuernavaca. English is taught from Prekínder through Preparatoria, and French from 4th grade through Preparatoria. The school is a Cambridge English Preparation Centre and prepares students for PET, FCE, CAE, and CPE under the MCER framework. Students earn English certifications at levels including B1 through C2 and DELF levels for French from Primary through Preparatoria. In Preparatoria, students develop professional English skills to support university study and future postgraduate work.

Mental Wellbeing

Attention and convivencia is an integrative model for personal and social development that strengthens wellbeing and promotes effective communication between teachers and families. It unifies tutoring, values, and Williams profile attributes to support student growth. The program uses structured work, flexible strategies, preventive discipline, and mindfulness to maintain a balanced classroom. It emphasizes observing, detecting, and following up on student needs, while fostering positive social interactions and mediation. It develops personal strengths and provides accommodations to ensure a positive learning environment.

Safeguarding

Safety and protocols place the wellbeing of the community first. Entry and exit protocols ensure each student is identified by full name and handover codes, with 24/7 security cameras and a gated campus at the entrance. Paramedics and on-site nurses are available, and staff receive ongoing training to prevent incidents and respond quickly to emergencies. Swimming safety protocols and internal transport for aquatic activities ensure safe practices, with supervision maintained at all times. The school maintains a safe environment to support student growth and development.
