Scholarships are also granted if parents suffer total or permanent incapacity for students who have at least two years of study at Alexander Bain, with awarding subject to medical diagnosis and the Board's approval. There exists a very limited number of scholarships to assist families with severe temporary economic problems, limited to one school year with no renewal. The Association is financed by annual parent fees paid at enrollment and by the investment income generated by those fees.
