For more than 70 years, the Instituto Cervantes Apostólica in San Luis Potosí has served the community, founded in 1954 as La Apostólica by the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit to offer secondary and high school studies. In 1956 it moved to Huerta de Los Reyes at León García No. 2355, the site it occupies today. The institution adopted the name Instituto Cervantes in 1972, and governance shifted to lay administration in 1973, formalized as a Civil Association in 1977. It expanded to Primary in 1979 and Pre-school in 1982, and began bilingual exchanges in the 1990s with Eisenhower International School in Tulsa and later with Holland Hall School in Tulsa. IB authorization was granted in 2013, ISO certifications were achieved, and recent enhancements include the Full English Program, the Arts Center and gym; the school celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2024.
Community life at the Apostólica focuses on culture, learning, and family involvement. The school hosts Cervantina Night, celebrated annually as a cultural evening, and a Festival of Language and Book Fair with activities in Spanish, English, and French. Día de Muertos celebrations—including in-person and virtual observances—and a Week of Science, Culture and Health are among the community's signature events. Family engagement is fostered through events such as parent workshops and Open School days.
Instituto Cervantes Apostólica in San Luis Potosí is an IB World School offering Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme for students from maternal to secondary levels.
