Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school celebrates diversity and fosters the development of each student's identity, offering an environment that nurtures critical thinking and creativity. Our bicultural, student-centered vision cultivates empathy and curiosity, preparing students to become globally conscious citizens in a diverse world. The educational project rests on four pillars: biculturalism, community, critical thinking, and holistic formation. We are a community that welcomes students from diverse origins, abilities, and interests, and provides an educational program that stimulates reflection, analysis, understanding of others, commitment to the community, and respect, empathy, and honesty. Graduates are recognized at top universities worldwide for being well-rounded individuals, reflecting our values of respect, tolerance, honesty, responsibility, and cooperation. We form global citizens; the program respects diversity, supports students with disabilities, and promotes sustainable development and environmental awareness.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The school respects diversity and supports students with disabilities. It has an inclusive philosophy, celebrating diversity and individuality among its students. Since 2002, a program to integrate students with intellectual disability has been in place. Currently there are more than 20 students with disabilities enrolled from Preschool through the third year of Secondary.

Mental Wellbeing

The mission is to offer a happy, peaceful, and affectionate environment in which creativity and learning flourish. The school offers a balanced program that reflects individual and collective needs and interests. It fosters critical thinking and the ability to actively contribute to solving individual and collective problems in the interests of liberty and justice. The school grows as a progressive and innovative institution that values self-esteem and fosters a love of learning to help students realize their personal and academic potential to the maximum. This mission applies to all members of the Lancaster community.

La Escuela de Lancaster is a bicultural, non-profit school with two campuses in Mexico City: Plantel Rey Yupanqui (Preescolar-Primaria) and Plantel Diligencias (Secundaria-Bachillerato). Founded in 1979 to blend Mexican and British traditions, it serves students aged 3 to 18. The curriculum combines international frameworks with local requirements. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) anchors learning in the primary years, with English taught alongside drama, art, computing, sports, music, and Spanish within SEP alignment. In secondary, the programme blends SEP with Cambridge IGCSE and offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). The IMYC supports the transition between PYP and IGCSE. The UNAM CCH pathway yields a UNAM certificate. The four pillars are biculturalidad, comunidad, pensamiento crítico, and formación integral. Notable programs include LankySports, Fulcrum arts publishing, Chess, Acción Social with Club de San Andrés and the Sustainability Committee, and a strong commitment to inclusive education and social responsibility today.
