ISRLO is an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) from age 11 to 16 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the final two years. The MYP provides a five-year, inquiry-based framework designed to develop knowledge and skills for progression to the DP. In the Diploma Programme, students select six subjects (with the option of a seventh) and complete the Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS; the DP leads to an internationally recognised pre-university qualification. The Diploma Programme groups include Group 1: Studies in Language and Literature (English, Dutch); Group 2: Language Acquisition (English B, French B, Spanish B, Dutch B); Group 3: Individuals & Societies (e.g., Economics, Geography, History); Group 4: Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies); Group 5: Mathematics & Computer Science (Mathematics AA HL; Mathematics AA & AI SL); Group 6: The Arts (Visual Arts, Music).
Arts are integral to ISRLO's curriculum. In the MYP, Visual Arts, Drama and Music are offered; in the DP, Visual Arts and Music are listed as Group 6 options. Students may also choose an extra subject from Groups 1–4 as an alternative to a Group 6 Arts subject, allowing flexibility in the arts pathway.
ISRLO offers international education with English as the working language and Dutch as a compulsory subject in the Middle Years Programme. All MYP students take English A Language and Literature, and Dutch Language and Literature is used as the Dutch language option; French and Spanish are offered as Language Acquisition options. In the Diploma Programme, English B, French B, Spanish B and Dutch B are available as Language Acquisition subjects. EAL support is provided, and the school encourages development of first/best languages with options for self-taught or Ab Initio study; there are opportunities for a bilingual IB diploma. Language immersion trips to France and Spain are part of the language program, and a student language profile tracks individual language development.
Physical and Health Education in the MYP focuses on health, hygiene and both individual and team sports. ISRLO supports student-led extracurricular activities such as Model United Nations; RijnMUN 2024 was organized by students and included over 170 participants. The DP and MYP also provide access to the arts throughDrama, Visual Arts and Music activities as part of ongoing extracurricular engagement.
Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) is a core component of the Diploma Programme, requiring a minimum of 150 hours of activities that integrate sports, community service and creative pursuits. Action in the DP connects learning to real-world contexts and may involve service learning and advocacy beyond the classroom. The MYP emphasizes community involvement through its global contexts and related projects that prepare students for CAS requirements.
ISRLO maintains a Participation Council (MR) with representation from staff, parents and students; there are six meetings per school year where the MR discusses and can advise or consent on matters related to education, holidays, and policy. The school provides Career Counselling for MYP/DP with dedicated counsellors and clear contact points, and the international school department is led by two department leaders (IB-MYP 1-5 and IB-DP) under the Rector and Head International School.
Physical and Health Education emphasizes health, hygiene and physical activity across the Middle Years Programme. Through CAS and other programs, students engage in activities that support a balanced and active lifestyle, combining personal development with teamwork and creativity.

MYP spans five years, and students may receive the IB Middle Years Certificate or a Record of Achievement on completion. The DP offers six subjects from Groups 1–6, with Higher Level and Standard Level options, together with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS.
