How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school integrates character education across the curriculum and through a formal Mentoring Program and Personal Development Series. Daily advisory classes support students' social and emotional growth, with emphasis on respectful dialogue and self-reflection. Co-curricular activities, clubs, and school-wide events complement academics by developing personal and interpersonal skills. The formation program fosters values such as responsibility, service, and collaboration as part of a holistic education.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Discipline and Student Support Policies govern how Bannister Academy supports learners with needs. A dedicated Student Support Service is described in the Student Handbook, providing structured guidance to students as part of the school's formal support framework. The school emphasizes character education and mentoring as mechanisms to support overall student well-being and inclusion.

Mental Wellbeing

The school uses mentoring and advisory sessions to support students' mental well-being within a holistic program. Character education and service activities reinforce well-being by promoting resilience, self-regulation, and social responsibility.

Safeguarding

The school implements a Discipline Policy and a Student Support Policy to protect student welfare. The Student Handbook contains a Disciplinary Code and related safety and conduct policies.
