ASV opened in 1980 as Colegio Hispano-Americano with 27 students on October 14, 1980. It was created by a group of visionary families who sought to establish the first American and English-speaking school in Valencia. Preliminary works began in 1978, and the owners of Los Monasterios agreed to sell land to build an international school. The school is located in Urbanización Los Monasterios, Puçol, Valencia. Since its early years, ASV has offered the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program since 2004.
ASV hosts Learning Celebrations in Preschool and Elementary, with parent participation, including May 23 and May 24, 2024. Preschool events guided parents through centers, songs and reading; Elementary events showcased learning goals across grade levels with centers, writing projects and science experiments and shared games. Carnival Day in 2025 united the ASV community across all four sections in games, a parade and a staff-versus-students football game.
