American Gulf School (AGS) was established on 18 August 2021 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, as American Gulf School L.L.C. The school is located in the Al Rahmaniya – Shaghrafah area of Sharjah. AGS combines American standards with the International Baccalaureate framework and offers an American Diploma pathway. AGS became an IB World School in December 2023 and was fully authorized to deliver the full IB continuum in June 2024, with additional IB authorizations updated in June 2025.
AGS fosters an active, diverse school community in Sharjah. University Fair 2025 was held with 25+ universities in attendance and involvement from students, parents, and guests from other schools. Beyond Earth was Sharjah's first STEAM competition dedicated to space exploration, bringing together 20 schools and 150 students in 44 teams. The AGS choir performed at the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, and students participated in the Arab Reading Challenge qualifiers. KG2 and Grade 5 graduation ceremonies were celebrated as community milestones.
Public materials do not describe a formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for AGS. The school emphasizes parent engagement through events and regular communications that invite family involvement (for example, Welcome / campus communications). Examples of parent-inclusive activity include University Fair 2025, which involved parents and families alongside students and university representatives; Beyond Earth, a STEAM competition with multiple schools; and participation in cultural events such as the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival and Arab Reading Challenge qualifiers. KG2 and Grade 5 graduations also mark community milestone events attended by families. These activities illustrate strong parent–school collaboration even in the absence of a publicly documented PTA structure.
