English is the language of instruction. English as an Additional Language (EAL) provides extensive instruction and support to help students develop English across all subject areas from arrival. EAL aims to help students communicate in social and academic contexts, develop literacy habits, and acquire subject-specific language skills, with progression tracked through the MYP's Language Acquisition phases. The school recognises a multilingual community and supports mother-tongue languages through curricular and extracurricular activities (Japanese, Turkish, Spanish, Mandarin) with other languages available on request.
Mother-tongue language classes are taught within the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Japanese, Turkish, Spanish and Mandarin Language and Literature are offered, with other languages available on request. Primary Years Programme mother-tongue classes are available on request, subject to teacher availability. There are also mother-tongue clubs and library resources to support language development.
