The history of Dwight School London comprises three parallel stories—the Dwight family, the New York school, and the London/global network. In London, Holmewood was opened in 1885 by Mrs. Maria Wilson in Woodside Park, Finchley, with nearby schools such as St Alban's and St John's contributing to the early landscape. In 1972 Chancellor Stephen Spahn opened a campus in London and later merged Holmewood, St Alban's and St John's High School for Boys to create what we know today as Dwight School London. The London crest is linked to the Dwight heritage and the school has connections with Yale's Timothy Dwight College. Dwight London is part of a global network that includes Dwight Schools in New York, Seoul, Shanghai, Dubai, Hanoi and Dwight Global Online School.

Activities include The Winter Fair, International Food Fair, teacher appreciation events, Book Fair and Summer Fair; the DPA issues a monthly Community Newsletter and runs a Parent Ambassador Programme to assist new families.
