Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

RGS Vietnam offers over 50 extracurricular activities each year, with lunchtime, after school and weekend options. Academic Pursuits include a Student-led Science Club, World Scholars Cup and English Fluency Club. There are two ECAs sessions running from early September and late January, allowing students to change activities. These ECAs supplement the curriculum by broadening students' academic interests and encouraging inquiry.

Arts and Creative

Visual and Performing Arts options include Ballet, Orchestra, Guitar, Drama and Water Colour painting. Orchestra and other ensembles are available as ECAs to support performing arts. Students can pursue visual arts and creative activities as part of the ECA program. The arts ECAs provide opportunities to develop creativity alongside academic study.

Cultural and Language

Social and Cultural ECAs include Public Forum Debate, Stress management, Korean Culture and History and Nature Club. The RGSV community is multinational, with around 30 nationalities and many languages spoken; English is the language of instruction. Examples include Public Forum Debate, Stress management, Korean Culture and History and Nature Club. The range of activities provides recreational and interest based opportunities to connect with peers. Two ECA sessions per year allow students to switch activities as needed.

Community and Service

Annual residential trips for Year 6 to Year 13 are a compulsory part of the program. Trips typically last three days and two nights and aim to build independence, teamwork and life skills. They are designed to motivate students to be active global citizens through team adventures and service projects in Vietnam, organized with The Learning Project. Destinations include Cuc Phuong, Mai Chau, Ba Vi, Sapa and Cat Ba.

Leadership and Professional

Student leadership is provided through formal roles in Student Bodies including Prefects, Student Council, MUN, TEDx and Upper Secondary Prom. These groups offer opportunities to lead events, develop public speaking and participate in school governance. The community also includes school houses and a Parent-Teacher Association that support leadership and service initiatives.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

The ECA program includes a broad sports offering such as Swimming, Basketball, Baseball, Football, Biathlon and Yoga. Activities run during lunch, after school and on weekends, supporting physical fitness and wellbeing.
