Reigate Grammar School Vietnam began as the International School of Vietnam (ISV) in Hanoi and was re-branded in 2021. In December 2021, after an 18‑month collaboration with Reigate Grammar School UK, ISV was renamed Reigate Grammar School Vietnam (RGSV). RGSV is a not-for-profit international school in Hanoi that blends a traditional British independent school approach with Vietnamese values and principles and serves pupils aged 3–18. The collaboration with RGS UK accelerated development, and RGSV officially opened as RGS Vietnam on 6 April 2022. The school is led by Mai Bich Thuy, founder and chair of RGSV, and maintains close ties with RGS UK.
RGS Vietnam is a connected community that promotes cultural and language diversity. The RGSV community is drawn from around 30 nationalities, and although the learning programme is delivered in English, at least 15 languages are spoken by staff, students and families. Student leadership and activities are organised through student bodies such as Prefects, Student Council, MUN, TEDx, and an Upper Secondary Prom. News and events are shared through newsletters and RGSV channels, highlighting a dynamic calendar of school life.
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at RGSV is a group of parents who help welcome new families and students and volunteer to organise gatherings such as school fairs, parent excursions, and cultural talks; parents may also assist in classrooms and contribute to the curriculum through debates and guest speakers. The PTA Constitution sets objectives including developing relationships between staff and parents, supporting education and welfare, and fundraising to improve facilities and create educational opportunities. General meetings are held about every two months, with an AGM in September and a quorum of 15% of the parent body. The PTA Committee includes a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, may form sub-committees, and has powers to advise, publish information, co-operate with other bodies, and raise funds for school projects. The PTA can be contacted at rgsvpta@gmail.com and has a RGSV Parent Facebook group for engagement.
