The school offers Arts and Creative academies, including Music, Martial Arts, and Visual Arts. The Music Academy includes guitar training. The Martial Arts Academy engages students in martial arts training, and the Visual Arts Academy involves painting. MAPA Madison Parents Association is part of MIS Community and supports parent involvement. The MIS Community also includes Social Work initiatives.

Madison International School Mérida offers the International Baccalaureate continuum, with PYP (grades 1–5), MYP (grades 6–10) and Diploma Programme (grades 11–12). Instruction is bilingual in English and Spanish at all levels, with language distributions of 70% English / 30% Spanish in PYP, 70% English / 20% Spanish / 10% third language in MYP and DP. All classes are conducted in English and Spanish. The school applies a constructivist pedagogy with the teacher as facilitator, and follows a secular Laic approach and holistic learning. Accreditations include IB and NEASC. Opened in 2015, MIS Mérida emphasizes international-mindedness, critical thinking, integrity, mutual respect, creativity, and service and action as core IB values.
