Madison International School Country Mérida opened in 2015, welcoming students to a world-class IB education from the primary years through the Diploma Program. The school emphasizes international-mindedness, critical thinking, integrity, mutual respect, creativity, service and action as core IB values. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
All classes are taught in English and Spanish. There are more than 15 extracurricular activities and about 20 international events each school year. The MIS community hosts events such as the International Universities Fair, Altars 2023, and Noche Mexicana y Paseo de las Ánimas.
MAPA Madison Parents Association is the MIS parent association. The MIS Parent Section provides documents and policies for families, including the Directory 2025-2026, School Rules and Regulations 2025-2026, Uniforms Catalog, Academic Integrity Policy, Assessment Policy, Inclusion Policy, Language Policy, MYP Homework Policy, MIS Extended Essay Guide, and Teachers Performance Evaluation Policy. There is a Yearbook available within the MIS Parent Section.
Madison International School Mérida offers the International Baccalaureate continuum, with PYP (grades 1–5), MYP (grades 6–10) and Diploma Programme (grades 11–12). Instruction is bilingual in English and Spanish at all levels, with language distributions of 70% English / 30% Spanish in PYP, 70% English / 20% Spanish / 10% third language in MYP and DP. All classes are conducted in English and Spanish. The school applies a constructivist pedagogy with the teacher as facilitator, and follows a secular Laic approach and holistic learning. Accreditations include IB and NEASC. Facilities include six science laboratories and more than 15 extracurricular activities.
