UWC East Africa is established, owned and managed by International School Moshi Ltd, a non-profit private company registered in Tanzania. A Governing Board governs the school and comprises members selected by the founding shareholders and two members elected by the Parent-Teacher Association. The Good Samaritan Foundation founded the Moshi campus in 1969 to support expatriate families; the Arusha Campus began as a day school in 1987. In 2019 the school joined the UWC movement. Ownership is held through 10 shares: Good Samaritan Foundation (6 shares), Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, United Evangelical Mission, and Baptist Mission.
UWC East Africa operates on two campuses, Moshi and Arusha. The Latest News pages show a program of events and a calendar for both campuses, and Moshi and Arusha publish separate newsletters (Moshi News and Arusha News) to keep families informed. The Parent-Teacher Association on each campus brings together parents and teachers to support the school and to organize cultural and social events that foster community ties. Recent items include an Arusha Campus PTA Coffee Morning on 12 February 2026 and the Arusha Campus International Festival in 2024.
The PTA brings together parents and teachers on each campus to support the school and provide a broad education for the children. All parents/guardians of students enrolled in UWC East Africa are members of the PTA. Each campus has a PTA Committee elected annually at the AGM, with a minimum of four voting members, and at least one member from Primary and at least one from Middle/Diploma. The PTA's Terms of Reference cover its objectives: support the School's mission, promote one school with one vision, organize cultural and social events, raise funds for activities, and act as a parent representative to the Board. Each campus PTA Committee has officers (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and One Board Representative) elected annually, with meetings held six times yearly and the Director and Head of Campus attending ex officio. The PTA communicates with parents through the School newsletter and emails.
